Scare For A Cure 2008: World of Horrorcraft
November 19th, 2008
OK, Andy’s brother Paul and SIL Anna scare the crap out of folks for charity. Each year they are involved with this amazing haunted house event in Austin, Texas. Check out the video from this year’s event…if you DARE.
Scare For A Cure 2008: World of Horrorcraft from Paul Sicard on Vimeo.
SCARE For A Cure is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise money for local cancer related charities. Our main event is an interactive extreme haunted house adventure modeled after, and using many of the same experienced volunteers as, two iconic Austin haunted houses: Richard Garriott’s Britannia Manor and Wild Basin Preserve’s Haunted Trails. The SCARE crew brings together one of the most talented, creative, and fiendishly frightening teams anywhere.
SCARE For A Cure’s Austin haunted house started as a haunt put on by Jarrett Crippen (a.k.a. the SciFi Channel’s “The Defuser”) in his back yard, where he asked participants for donations of canned food for local food banks. It grew year by year, with help from the drama troupes of local high schools. In 2007, shortly after winning the Who Wants to Be a Superhero reality show, Jarrett moved his production to the Austin Elks lodge. That was when he was joined by many of the volunteers who created Britannia Manor and Haunted Trails in years past.
Whonderful Night at Wheaton College
October 20th, 2008
The band had the pleasure of performing on Saturday night at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. Yodelin’ Alan Kaufman and Suz Slezak (of the David Wax Museum) did a wonderful job of singing and playing twin fiddles! Waltzes were played, yodels were yodeled and hot chocolate cookies were eaten - it was a goodtime indeed!
Original Goodtime Charlie member Mike Kenney did a tremendous job on bass (as always). It was certainly a blast to perform with him again!
Banjoist Brain Surgery
October 9th, 2008
Just wanted to share this amazing article from ABC News:
Eddie Adcock’s fast picking and unconventional style made him world famous as a bluegrass banjo innovator. But when tremors took over his once dexterous hands, he lost the ability to play the music he loved.
Now, thanks to an incredible brain surgery, during which Adcock was awake and playing the banjo until the doctors got it just right, he can turn his talent back on, literally at the push of a button.
